Configuring Expiry Notifications 🔔
Canyou can automatically notify both the user and your business admins as a certification or licence approaches its expiry date. You can now configure multiple reminder intervals per certification — for example, send a reminder at 90 days, 30 days, and again at 7 days before expiry.
Step 1 — Open the notification settings
To set up or update expiry notifications, you can either create a new certification or edit an existing one. Navigate to the Certifications menu and either:
- Click Create to add a new certification, or
- Select an existing certification and click Edit

Step 2 — Configure your reminder periods
The create/edit modal will open. If the certification has an expiry date enabled, the Send expiry reminders panel will appear at the bottom of the form.

Inside the Send expiry reminders panel you can add as many intervals as you need in two ways:
Quick add — click any of the preset buttons (90, 60, 30, 14, or 7 days) to instantly add that interval. Click again to remove it.
Custom interval — enter any number of days between 1 and 365 in the input field and click Add.
Each active reminder period appears as a removable tag. Click the × on a tag to remove that interval.
A summary line at the bottom of the panel confirms exactly when reminders will be sent, for example: "Sending reminders 90, 30 and 7 days before expiry".
Click Save (or Create Certification) to apply your changes.
How notifications are sent
Once configured, Canyou will automatically send an email notification at each interval you have set:
- The user receives a reminder that their certification is expiring and a link to submit a renewal on Canyou.
- Business admins receive a notification with a direct link to the user's certification record.
If the job runs and multiple thresholds have lapsed since the last run, Canyou sends a notification at the most recent uncrossed threshold and catches up on the next cycle — so users are never bombarded with duplicate notifications.
Viewing configured reminders
The active reminder periods are displayed as badges on the certification overview page, so you can see at a glance what is configured without opening the edit form.
