Online induction software lets a new worker, contractor or visitor complete your induction on their phone before they arrive, with videos, documents and questions, and keeps a record that they did. The best tool for you depends on who you're inducting and what else has to happen before they start work.
This guide compares nine tools Australian businesses use today, what each one is best for, and when each is the wrong pick, including our own. Every competitor detail comes from the vendor's own website, checked on 2 November 2026. Prices change, so confirm with the vendor before you buy.
Canyou is our product. Inductions are one part of it: new starters complete their site induction, training videos with questions and licence uploads in the same flow as their onboarding. It isn't a visitor sign-in system, so we've been clear about where the other tools fit better.
Why induct online?
Under the model WHS laws, a person conducting a business or undertaking must make sure workers get the information, training, instruction and supervision they need to stay safe, and the first of Safe Work Australia's three basic steps is to provide induction and workplace health and safety training for new workers (Safe Work Australia: training and supporting your workers). An online induction doesn't replace a site walk or supervision, but it means people arrive having already covered the basics, and you have a record of it.
The practical wins are simple: nobody downs tools to run an induction at 7am, everyone hears the same message, and you can see who's done it before they reach the gate.
What to look for in online induction software
1. Who you're inducting
Tools split into three groups, and it's the most important question to answer first:
- New workers and contractors joining your business: inductions sit alongside onboarding, tickets and paperwork.
- Subcontractors across a construction project: inductions sit alongside insurances, SWMS and site attendance.
- Visitors and regular contractors at a facility: inductions sit alongside daily sign-in and sign-out.
2. The induction itself
Look for video, documents and questions. If you need a scored assessment with a pass mark, certificates or automatic re-induction when an induction expires, check that the tool says so on its own site. Not every tool does all three.
3. Done before they arrive, without an app
A link in an SMS or a QR code on the fence works best. Every app download or password is another reason a new starter turns up un-inducted.
4. Tickets checked before they start
An induction is only half the story on a construction site. You also need to see a current White Card and any high-risk work licence before someone starts, and know when they expire.
5. Sign-in, attendance and evacuation
If you need to know who's on site today, or run an evacuation roll call, you need a sign-in or visitor management tool. That's a different job from inducting someone once.
6. Records you can find later
When a client, auditor or regulator asks, you should be able to show who completed which induction and when, in a few clicks.

The tools in detail
Canyou
Best for: construction, labour hire, agriculture and other licence-heavy businesses where an induction is one of several things a new worker or contractor needs done before they start.
Canyou treats the induction as part of onboarding. Print a QR code for the site gate or put a link in a job ad. Whoever scans it joins your business and gets the requirements for their role: the site induction, training videos with questions, the licences and tickets that role needs, and, for employees, tax, super and contract paperwork. You choose whether people can start straight away or need your approval first. Licences are tracked to expiry with reminders to the worker, and work rights are checked with the Department of Home Affairs. See how it works on the QR code site inductions page.
Pricing: Essentials $49 a month (10 onboards, then $3 each), Pro $129 (50 onboards), Scale $349 (200 onboards). All prices excluding GST. See pricing.
Not the right fit if: you need a daily sign-in and sign-out log for visitors, evacuation roll calls, or scored assessments with certificates. Use a visitor management or dedicated induction tool for those.
Induct For Work
Best for: organisations that want a dedicated online induction platform for employees, contractors, labour hire workers and visitors.
Induct For Work courses can include video, presentations, documents and questions, with a required pass score, completion certificates and automatic re-invites when an induction expires. It adds visitor and contractor sign-in by kiosk, tablet or mobile, contractor pre-qualification with document expiry tracking, and runs in the phone's browser. Plans are priced per account in AUD excluding GST, including a free plan for very small volumes and a Lite plan at $80 a month, with a 30-day free trial.
Not the right fit if: you want work rights, payroll forms and contracts handled in the same flow as the induction.
Rapid Global
Best for: larger organisations that want inductions, contractor management and visitor sign-in under one subscription.
Rapid Global, with offices in Sydney and Adelaide, delivers inductions by web, mobile or kiosk, including SCORM content, with refresher alerts and licence tracking. Its contractor management covers insurances, SWMS and pre-qualification, and its visitor system offers QR, app and kiosk check-in with evacuation mustering. It integrates with Employment Hero and MYOB. Pricing is user-based and on request.
Not the right fit if: you're a small business that wants a published monthly price.
Breadcrumb (formerly SignOnSite)
Best for: head contractors on construction projects.
SignOnSite has been acquired by 1Breadcrumb, and its product pages now point to Breadcrumb. Workers complete inductions from a QR code on site or a pre-arrival link, and are prompted to redo an induction when it changes. Each completed induction builds a "worker passport". It adds kiosk, app or QR sign-in, live evacuation roll calls, insurance and SWMS collection, and a two-way Procore integration. Pricing is an annual fee based on company size or annual construction volume, not per user.
Not the right fit if: you're not in construction, or you need employee onboarding and payroll forms alongside the induction.
HammerTech
Best for: commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites.
HammerTech, founded in Melbourne, lets you upload your own training media and build comprehension quizzes, with alerts when training is due for renewal. Workers complete orientations on any mobile device without creating an account. It covers QR sign-in, turnstile integration, subcontractor insurance with expiry tracking, SWMS, and Procore and MYOB integrations. Pricing is a tailored quote, and it's free for subcontractors.
Not the right fit if: you're a small contractor or employer that needs a monthly plan you can start this week.
LinkSafe by Civica
Best for: organisations managing contractors across many sites, in retail, facilities, healthcare, education and construction.
LinkSafe, now part of Civica, lets workers complete inductions with mandatory questions and assessments before they arrive, linked to licence and credential expiry monitoring. Its site sign-in by QR or kiosk can block workers who aren't compliant, and it pre-qualifies contractors' licences and insurance. There are no apps or downloads for workers. It's modular, with pricing on request.
Not the right fit if: you need tax, super and payroll onboarding for employees as well as contractor inductions.
Sine
Best for: facilities that need visitor and contractor sign-in first, with inductions on top.
Sine, owned by Honeywell and with an office in Adelaide, offers iPad kiosk check-in, QR invitations, geofence check-out and roll calls from its mobile app. Induction videos with mandatory viewing and conditional questions come with Sine Workflows, a paid add-on to the Core plan. Credentials are stored, and access is revoked when they lapse. Plans are on request, with a 30-day free trial of Sine Core.
Not the right fit if: you mainly need to induct new employees once, rather than sign people in and out every day.
OnlineInduction.com
Best for: small and mid-sized organisations that want an Australian-owned induction system with published pricing.
OnlineInduction.com, from Work Metrics, offers online inductions with multiple-choice assessments, certificates and induction cards, licence capture with reminders, and contractor insurance verification. QR and tablet sign-in comes through a separate sign-in portal. The Standard plan is $180 a month excluding GST, billed annually, with unlimited users and courses; sign-in starts at $55 a month for the first site plus GST.
Not the right fit if: you want work rights checks and payroll onboarding in the same system.
Ideagen Workforce Safety (formerly Damstra)
Best for: enterprise workforces in mining, construction, utilities and government.
Damstra became Ideagen Workforce Safety in September 2025. Its platform includes eLearning with assessments and completion certificates, expiry tracking and renewal automation, QR code reading, muster and evacuation, biometric access control and independent verification of contractor documents. Pricing isn't published.
Not the right fit if: you're a small or mid-sized business looking for a quick, low-cost start.

How Canyou handles this
Canyou is employee onboarding software where the site induction is part of getting someone cleared to work, not a separate system:
- One QR code or link per role, so employees and contractors each get the right induction and requirements.
- Training videos with questions, documents and e-signatures in the same flow.
- Licence and certification tracking with reminders before anything expires.
- Work-rights checks with the Department of Home Affairs.
- Approve people before they start, or let them begin straight away.
- ISO audit-ready records of who completed what.
Built for construction crews and subbies, and used across labour hire, agriculture and aged care. Try for free (no credit card required, cancel any time) or book a demo and we'll set up an induction for your site.
